The Indian Law Institute, New Delhi is  Founded in 1956 Primarily with the objective of promoting and conducting legal research, the Indian Law Institute aims at cultivating the science of law, to promote advanced studies and research in law so as to suit the social, economic and other needs of the Indian people, to promote systematization of law, to encourage and conduct investigation in legal and applied field, to improve legal education impart instructions in law, and to publish studies, books, periodicals, etc . The institute is a private body registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860
The Institute publishes a quarterly Journal of the Indian Law Institute (JILI), Annual Survey of Indian Law, studies, reports, case books and treatises: The Institute’s Library is one of the foremost law libraries in India. It contains nearly 60,000 volumes
Post Graduate Diploma Courses
 1) Administrative Law, 2) Corporate Laws and Management, 3) Labour Law, 4) Tax Laws, 5) Cyber Law,
6 Human Rights Law, 7) International Trade Law including ADRS,  8) Environmental Law,
9) Intellectual Property Rights Law, 10 Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADRs), 11) Securities & Banking Laws
The duration of each course is one academic session. The session and timings of the classes for various courses are as under
Duration: One Academic year. Session starts in September Last date: July
Morning Session: January to November (7.30 a.m to 9.30 a.m)
Evening Session :August to May (6.00 P.m to 8.00 p.m.)
Objectives of conducting these courses:
(a) To keep younger members of the Bar and persons engaged in other professions abreast of the developments in law;
(b) To create awareness among persons belonging to commerce, industry and Government of their legal rights and duties and also of persons dealing with them
 (c) To share the fruits of research done by the Institute with others;
(d) Creating awareness that legal rules are not merely technical rules designed to solve disputes between the two immediate parties but are instruments of social engineering and their function is to create a proper social adjustment, a balance between the competing claims and interests in the society
