The Army Welfare Education Society has established the Army Institute of Law (AIL) to impart quality education in the field of law to the wards of Army personnel, besides serving as a feeder institute to Judge Advocate Generals (JAG). The institute functions at Mohali under the aegis of the western Command Headquarters under the overall control of the Army Welfare Education Society and approved by the Ba, Council of India. Although there are plans of introducing several related law disciplines such as diploma courses in Taxation, Criminology, Labour Laws, Humanitarian laws and Environment laws, as of now, AIL only runs a 5-year integrated plans afoot to amalgamate law and management aspects to enhance the job potential of the students.
The year –wise intake of the students at AIL is 80 seats (for army personnel Limited number of seats are available for Punjab and All India Civil candidates based on merit to be established through Written Admission Test (WAT) conducted during April at Mohali.
Eligibility:
(a) Candidates should be citizens of India and children/departments of specified Army personnel. Details regarding eligible categories of Army personnel can be seen from the prospectus.
(b) Educational qualification: 10+2 examination or equivalent with not less than 45% marks (students taking qualifying examination in May/ April of the year of admission are also eligible to apply).
 (c) Candidates should be below 21 years as on July.
(d) Wards of civilians are also eligible to apply in civilian category
(e) There is no liability/bond either for army quota or general category (civilians) to join the army after completion of course.
Mode of selection
Selection is based on Written Admission Test (WAT) conducted by (AWES) at Mohali. Application from and prospectus can be had by post from the concerned institution or from HQ AWES and HQs Command (AWES Cell ) on Payment of requisite charges
